A common mistake is treating a clarifying shampoo like a normal one. It is a reset button, not a routine, and how you use it matters as much as which bottle you buy.
Use it every one to two weeks, not daily. Weekly if your scalp is oily or you use a lot of styling product, fortnightly if your hair is dry, curly or colour-treated, monthly if you barely use product. Between those washes, go back to your ordinary shampoo.
Do two short washes rather than one long one. The first lather lifts surface oil and gets very little done. The second is where the cleaning happens, and two quick passes with a scalp massager are far kinder to your scalp than one aggressive scrub.

We left it out because it is a chelating shampoo first and a clarifying shampoo second, and mixing the two jobs in one ranking makes the list less useful rather than more.
